Jesus Munoz Charged in Deadly, DUI Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 76 near Pala Mission Road

 
PALA, CA (September 21, 2023) — Jesus Munoz faces charges in a fatal wrong-way accident on Highway 76 near Pala Mission Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened Wednesday. For DUI-related causes, 43-year-old Munoz allowed his eastbound red Nissan Xterra to travel into oncoming traffic and hit a white Toyota RAV4.
 
In the wake of the accident, the Toyota’s 65-year-old male driver from Vista and 59-year-old female passenger passed away at the scene. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will release both victims’ names once they notify family members.
 
Soon after, paramedics took Munoz to a nearby hospital for treatment of major, non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities subsequently arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI and homicide-related charges.
