Jesus Barboza, Gina Santos Hurt in Head-On Crash on Highway 59 near Sandy Mush Road

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (June 11, 2021) — Jesus Barboza and Gina Santos were injured in a head-on accident on Highway 59 near Sandy Mush Road Tuesday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 2:20 p.m. For unknown reasons, a northbound 2014 Freightliner veered into the opposing lane of traffic and struck a 2015 Toyota Camry head-on.
 
As a result, 38-year-old Gina Mendoza Santos suffered major injuries and was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Meanwhile, 54-year-old Barboza complained of pain and stayed at the scene.
 
At this time, officers have ruled out DUI as a possible source of the crash. However, the case remains under active investigation by the CHP.
