Jerry Torres Dies in Bicycle Accident on Highway 78 near El Camino Real

 
CARLSBAD, CA (August 26, 2021) — Jerry Eugene Torres died in a bicycle crash on Highway 78 near El Camino Real last Saturday.
 
According to the Department of the Medical Examiner, the incident happened around 8:00 p.m. Per reports, 53-year-old Torres was riding his bicycle along the westbound side of Highway 78. Subsequently, a white Volvo traveling in the No. 1 lane struck Torres as he tried to cross the lanes of traffic.
 
Soon after, witnesses contacted 911 and when paramedics arrived at the scene, they pronounced him dead due to obvious fatal traumatic injuries.
 
At this time, the crash remains under investigation. However, if anyone has more information, please contact the police department.
