Driver Dies after Crashing into Metal Dumpster and Several Trees in Riverbank

 
RIVERBANK, CA (April 6, 2021)James Hunter died in a car accident early Monday morning outside Riverbank, police said.
 
The accident happened around 2:13 a.m. on March 29 between Adams Gravel Plant Road and Mesa Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 51-year-old Ceres man was driving a 2006 Lexus sedan eastbound when he veered off the southern edge of the road for unknown reasons.
 
The car continued in a southeasterly direction where it struck a metal dumpster and several trees before coming to rest. Hunter, who was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected from the car.
 
First responders found Hunter deceased a short distance from his vehicle.
 
The CHP has yet to be determined whether drugs and/or alcohol were a contributing factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
