HAYWARD, CA (March 3, 2022) – At least one person sustained injuries following a hit-and-run accident on Highway 880 on Tuesday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on March 1 at about 7:38 p.m. Due to unknown circumstances, four to five vehicles collided near West Tennyson Road on-ramp.
 
The impact of the crash caused at least one of the vehicles involved to catch fire.
 
Emergency crews reported non-life-threatening injuries. However, the number of people injured remains unknown.
 
As per reports, the driver of a silver Nissan fled the scene on foot. Witnesses described the fleeing driver as a man wearing jeans and a gray hoodie.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
