Fatal Hit-and-Run after Police Pursuit Crash on Main Street near 1st Street

 
SANTA ANA, CA (September 16, 2022) — A man involved in a hit-and-run crash subdued after a police pursuit on Main Street died on Thursday.
 
According to Santa Ana police Commander Jose Gonzalez, police rushed to the scene at at 1800 North Broadway around 1:45 p.m. on September 13. One of the responding officers noticed a suspect vehicle. Then he started a pursuit which ended in a parking lot at 102 North Main Street.
 
The chase that lasted about 15 minutes turns out to be complicated. According to officers, they received reports during the pursuit that the man carries a handgun.
 
Police then used a “less lethal” projectile and a police dog to subdue the suspect. Medics rushed him to OC Global Medical Center where he died at 2:34 a.m. Thursday. Officials have not yet released his identity.
 
An automatic investigation that is routine in in-custody deaths is ongoing.
