71-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies after Crash with SUV on Royal Avenue near First Street
SIMI VALLEY, CA (December 30, 2021) – Gregory J. Anderson was killed in a bicycle accident in Simi Valley Friday evening.
The accident happened shortly before 7:10 p.m. on December 24, along Royal Avenue west of First Street. According to the Simi Valley Police Department, Anderson was riding his bicycle when he collided with an SUV.
When officers arrived, they found Anderson lying in the roadway with significant injuries.
Despite life-saving aid, Anderson died at the scene. He was a 71-year-old homeless man, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A preliminary investigation determined the driver of the SUV was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol but it was unclear if Anderson was sober.
