Gilbert Morga Dies after Gerber Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway

 
GERBER, CA (October 23, 2022) – Authorities identified 49-year-old Gilbert Xavier Morga of Gerber as the pedestrian killed in an accident on 5 Freeway, Friday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on October 14, at about 5:30 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, Morga reportedly jumped from Chard Avenue overcrossing onto the northbound lanes of 5 Freeway.
 
Then, a 2005 Toyota Corolla hit Morga.
 
Emergency crews pronounced Morga dead at the scene. Authorities believe that he suffered fatal injuries as a result of jumping from the overpass.
 
Responders temporarily closed the no. 2 lane to make way for an investigation.
 
CHP continues to investigate the fatal incident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
