Frederico Filho Pleads No Contest to Last Year’s Monterey Car Crash

 
MONTEREY, CA (November 16, 2022) — Frederico Goncalo Moreira Filho, 33, pled guilty to a felony DUI injuring multiple people last year.
 
According to the District Attorney’s office, on November 14, 2021, at about 7:30 p.m., CHP officers responded to the Bixby Creek Bridge. They received reports about a two-car crash resulting in injuries.
 
The investigation determined that Filho celebrated his birthday at Nepenthe in Big Sur. Because of Filho’s level of intoxication, he lost control of the vehicle. Then he collided head-on with another vehicle.
 
Police said four people sustained injuries in the accident. Among those injured are two children whom paramedics airlifted to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.
 
Authorities said that Filho had a strong smell of alcohol coming from his breath. In addition, he had red and watery eyes, and he slurred his words. Upon testing his intoxication level, officials found Filho’s blood alcohol content was 0.11%.
 
Yesterday, Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced Filho pled no contest and admitted a prior DUI conviction. Reports said that on January 25, 2023, the court will sentence Filho to five years in prison.
