Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on 29th Avenue in Oakland’s Fruitvale District

 
OAKLAND, CA (July 14, 2023) – A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash at 29th Avenue and International Boulevard in Oakland’s Fruitvale District on Wednesday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 9:30 a.m. on July 12. According to the Oakland Police Department, stolen Hyundai was heading eastbound on International Boulevard when it collided with a box truck traveling in the same direction. The impact caused the Hyundai to spin out and strike the bicyclist, who was riding westbound on International Boulevard.
 
After the crash, the driver of the stolen car ran away from the scene.
 
The bicyclist was ejected onto the roadway. First responders rushed him to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity was not immediately available.
 
The truck driver remained on scene.
 
Witnesses told police the suspect was bleeding from the face as they fled.
