Eunice De La Cruz Hurt, Child Dies in Lompoc Rollover Crash

 
LOMPOC, CA (September 29, 2022) Eunice Perez De La Cruz was injured while a child died in a rollover accident on Highway 1 at Santa Lucia Canyon Road.
 
According to Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the fatal single-car crash happened around 7:55 a.m. on Wednesday. For unknown reasons, 18-year-old Cruz of Lompoc made an unsafe turning movement, sending her southbound 2002 GMC Envoy into the right shoulder.
 
Subsequently, the vehicle overturned down a hillside several times, ejecting a 10-year-old and an 8-year-old.
 
Responding authorities arrived to find the 10-year-old girl dead.
 
In addition, officials located the 8-year-old, as well as Cruz, with major injuries. Authorities contacted paramedics to airlift the surviving child to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital while paramedics brought Cruz to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.
 
Authorities have not disclosed the ultimate cause of the crash or the children’s names. However, an ongoing investigation should clarify any unclear details.
