Eugene Nelson Killed in Rear-End Accident on 8 Freeway [El Cajon Boulevard, CA]

18-Year-Old Man Dies after Crashing into Rear of CHP Vehicle in El Cajon

 
EL CAJON, CA (March 8, 2023) – Eugene Nelson was killed in a rear-end accident in El Cajon on February 25.
 
The accident happened around 11:48 a.m. on westbound 8 Freeway, just east of El Cajon Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, Nelson was driving a sedan westbound on the freeway when he struck the rear of a CHP vehicle parked on the highway while officers were investigating an unrelated traffic collision.
 
Officers at the scene found Nelson unresponsive and provided aid while awaiting the arrival of fire personnel. Upon their arrival, fire personnel extricated him from his car and rushed him to the Sharp Memorial Hospital Emergency Department.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, Nelson’s health deteriorated and he was declared dead on February 27 at 5:05 p.m. He was 18 years old from El Cajon.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
