Police Said RV Involved in San Ramon Pursuit Crash Stolen

SAN RAMON, CA (November 1, 2021) — A pursuit crash on Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon left two people, including one named Eric Games, injured Wednesday night.

According to the San Ramon police, the incident started at 7:42 p.m. The city’s automated license plate reader system notified officers that it spotted a 2013 Fleetwood Motorhome reported stolen out of San Francisco.

After about five minutes, the officers found the said motorhome on Bollinger Canyon Road near Dougherty Road. Initially, the driver of the vehicle complied and pulled over near Camassia Way and North Wedgewood Road. However, moments later, the driver sped away.

Officers chased the vehicle for roughly two miles onto Bollinger Canyon Road. Approaching Alcosta Boulevard, the RV encountered several other vehicles, made rapid movements to avoid them, and subsequently entered the intersection against a red light. As a result, it crashed into a Prius, which was attempting to turn left from southbound Alcosta onto eastbound Bollinger Canyon, and then overturned.

Previous Charges

Officers reportedly did not see the RV driver inside it but spotted him using a drone flown into the vehicle as he lie injured underneath a sofa. They later identified him as Eric Games, 42, of San Francisco. Games required extrication, after which he received treatment at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for injuries of unknown severity. Meanwhile, the driver of the Prius suffered minor injuries.

According to the police, Games had two previous charges in San Francisco. He will face several more charges, including vehicle theft and attempting to elude police, once released from the hospital.

When involved in a traffic stop, it is important to stay calm. Pull over in a safe spot and turn off your engine. Keep your hands on the steering wheel, and do not get out of the vehicle unless the officer directs you to do so. Respond when appropriate and be respectful. More often than not, being argumentative and hostile led to many a problem with police officers. Furthermore, speeding and evading authorities can lead to dangerous accidents.
