Emylie Tran Killed in DUI Head-On Crash on Bushard Street [Fountain Valley, CA]

Passenger Dies after Suspected DUI Driver Struck their Vehicle in Fountain Valley

 
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (May 24, 2023) – Emylie Tran died in a DUI head-on crash in Fountain Valley late Saturday evening on May 20.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:50 p.m. on Bushard Street near Swift Avenue. According to the Fountain Valley Police Department, a silver 2005 Infiniti FX35 had been heading north when it traveled into southbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2015 Nissan Sentra.
 
As a result, Tran suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was a 34-year-old passenger in the Sentra.
 
The driver of the Sentra was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
 
The driver of the Infiniti, a 24-year-old Hawaiian Gardens man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was suspected of DUI.
 
Tran was an Orange Coast College employee, an accounting technician for the campus. She helped run programs that benefited low-income students and those who have gone through foster care and the juvenile justice system.
 
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Fountain Valley Police Department’s traffic bureau at 714-593-4481.
