Emilio Cruz Killed in Multi-Vehicle Accident on 14 Freeway [Santa Clarita, CA]

Christmas Eve Crash on 14 Freeway in Santa Clarita Kills One Passenger

 
SANTA CLARITA, CA (January 3, 2024) – Emilio Carbajal Cruz was killed in a multi-vehicle accident in Santa Clarita early Sunday morning on Christmas Eve.
 
The fatal accident happened around 1:35 a.m. on 14 Freeway at Newhall Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Chevrolet Camaro and at least two other vehicles collided along the southbound freeway.
 
Cruz, a 27-year-old passenger in one of the vehicles, died at the scene. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office, Cruz’s cause of death is listed as blunt traumatic injuries.
 
Ricardo Cordova of Long Beach was one of the involved drivers. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital in an unknown condition. He was later arrested and booked on Thursday in the Downtown L.A. jail after being released from the hospital.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
