Emanuel Gamino-Chavarria, Scooter Rider Die in 2 Separate Crashes on Grand Avenue and 73rd Avenue

 
OAKLAND, CA (May 7, 2024)Emanuel Gamino-Chavarria and a scooter rider died in two separate accidents on Grand Avenue and on 73rd Avenue.
 
According to the Oakland Police Department, the fatal crashes happened just days from each other. Under unclear circumstances, a southbound 2006 Mercedes-Benz struck a scooter rider in the 1700 block of 73rd Avenue. Subsequently, the impact ejected the rider onto the road where he passed away around 11:00 p.m. Sunday.
 
The Oakland woman driving the Mercedes appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. However, authorities did not arrest her.
 
The second fatal crash happened around 2:40 a.m. Monday when 26-year-old Emanuel Gamino-Chavarria crashed his Cadillac SRX SUV on Grand Avenue into a tree on the south curb. He passed away at a hospital.
