22-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Sedan in San Jacinto

 
SAN JACINTO, CA (March 30, 2024) – Elizabeth Puentes was hit and killed by a vehicle in San Jacinto Wednesday evening on March 27.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 8:00 p.m. on South San Jacinto Avenue, less than a block south of Shaver Street. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Puentes stepped off the sidewalk and into traffic lanes as a northbound sedan approached.
 
The driver of the sedan apparently did not have time to brake or swerve and struck her.
 
As a result, Puentes suffered severe injuries. First responders rushed her to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley, where she died four hours later. She was a 22-year-old Hemet resident.
 
The driver stayed on scene after the crash and cooperated with authorities.
