Drivers Unharmed After Box Truck and Big Rig Collide on Highway 101 in Petaluma

PETALUMA, CA (May 23, 2022) — Drivers escaped injury after a box truck and a semi-truck crashed on Highway 101 near Washington Street on Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened around 8:35 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver of a box truck, traveling about 55 miles per hour, failed to slow down for the current road conditions ahead.

Subsequently, the driver immediately slammed onto his brakes to avoid hitting slower traffic, which was reportedly moving at about 5 miles per hour.

As a result, the box truck crashed into a temporary concrete barrier and flipped onto its side before it crashed into a big rig.

Soon after, authorities and firefighters arrived at the scene and ruled out DUI as a possible factor. However, they will be investigating whether negligence played a role.

Driving on fast-moving highways can be dangerous. Pay attention to the road and prepare to slow down in case you reach slow traffic ahead. Keep your eyes focused on driving and adjust to current road conditions.
