TEHAMA COUNTY, CA (February 24, 2023) — One person was injured in a rollover accident on Highway 99 near South Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened around 6:00 a.m. Thursday. For unknown reasons, a driver of a Prius traveling behind a semi-truck tried to pass up the trailer. However, as the driver tried to do that, the Prius went under the trailer and got stuck before rolling over.

As a result of the crash, the driver suffered a minor head injury and experienced complaints of neck, back and shoulder pain.

At this time, authorities do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol factored into the accident. Although, an ongoing investigation should confirm some details.

Passing larger vehicles on a highway can be dangerous when using the opposing lane. Take your time when doing this. Most importantly, keep your eyes forward and read the speed of the driver ahead to time yourself accordingly.
