Oil Tanker Truck Accident Causes Vegetation Fire near Dominion Road and Orcutt Garey Road

 
ORCUTT, CA (October 13, 2021) – A driver sustained injuries in an oil tanker truck accident on Dominion Road, early Monday morning.
 
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the incident happened on October 11, at about 4:30 a.m. Due to unknown circumstances, a vehicle and an oil tanker truck collided near the intersection of Dominion Road and Orcutt Garey Road.
 
The impact of the crash caused the tanker truck to overturn and end up in a ditch. As per reports, the cab of the truck caught fire. The nearby grove of eucalyptus trees was also set ablaze, causing about a quarter-acre vegetation fire.
 
Approximately a half-gallon of oil spilled from the trailer, which was carrying 6,000 gallons.
 
The driver of the truck did not sustain injuries. However, the driver of the other vehicle needed hospitalization for treatment of moderate injuries.
 
The Santa Maria City Fire Department and California Highway Patrol arrived to assist with containing the oil leak and extinguishing residual smoke.
