PETALUMA, CA (December 1, 2022) — A driver was injured after a big rig overturned on Petaluma Boulevard at Highway 101 Tuesday.
 
According to reports, the semi-truck accident occurred around 7:43 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver of an 18-wheeler crashed and overturned while attempting a turn onto Petaluma Boulevard from the Highway 101 off-ramp. Roughly 70,000 pounds of organic feed spilled onto the roadway.
 
Soon after, Petaluma Police, Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District, Petaluma Fire Department and a Sonoma County hazmat crew responded to the scene to tend to the situation. The roads were closed all morning and afternoon until 4:00 p.m.
 
As for the big rig driver, the victim escaped the wreckage by kicking out the windshield, suffering only minor to moderate injuries.
 
However, another crash drew attention in Petaluma. Around 1:00 p.m. that day, a westbound semi-truck and its trailer crashed into another vehicle traveling in the same direction on Lakeville Highway near Casa Grande Road. Fortunately, no one reported any injuries in this accident.
