Driver Dead in San Miguel Rollover Accident on Highway 101

 
SAN MIGUEL, CA (September 27, 2021) — A driver died in a rollover crash on Highway 101 near San Marcos Road Wednesday afternoon.
 
According to fire officials, the single-vehicle accident happened around 12:45 p.m. For unknown reasons, a driver in a pickup truck experienced a flat tire on the northbound highway. Subsequently, the driver applied the brakes, steered to the left, but crossed over the center median and overturned.
 
As a result of the crash, the 38-year-old man from San Miguel became pinned in the vehicle. Soon after, paramedics arrived and freed and airlifted him to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center where he died.
 
As for the other occupants, emergency personnel treated one passenger with a broken arm and another with minor injuries.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the accident or the victim’s identity. However, anyone with additional information should contact the CHP.
