Cyclist Laura Lowe Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run on Highway 1 near Ardath Drive
CAMBRIA, CA (September 27, 2021) – 60-year-old Laura Lowe of Morro Bay sustained serious injuries in a bicycle accident on Highway 1, Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on September 24, at about 9:00 a.m. A vehicle reportedly made a right turn onto the highway and hit the bicyclist near the Ardath Drive intersection.
Paramedics rushed the cyclist to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo. As per reports, Lowe suffered broken ribs and collarbones. She underwent surgery last Saturday and needed plates, pins, and screws installed.
However, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area. Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a black Lexus or Toyota sedan.
