44-Year-Old Woman Dies after Speeding Car Crashes into Her Minivan on Highway 101 in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (December 13, 2021)Diem Tran died in a two-car accident on Highway 101 in San Jose on Thursday morning.
 
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. on December 9 along the southbound highway just north of the Julian Street and McKee Road exit. According to the CHP, a 19-year-old man was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car.
 
The driver swerved into the fourth lane, where he crashed into a 2006 Honda Odyssey, driven by Tran. The impact pushed the Odyssey off the roadway, striking a tree on the right shoulder.
 
Tran suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was a 44-year-old San Jose resident, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
 
The condition of the other driver was unknown.
 
Crews closed the fourth lane of the highway while they cleared the wreckage.
 
Authorities did not rule out alcohol or drugs as factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
