Diego Cardoso de Oliveira, 1-year-old Joaquin Ramos Pinto de Oliveira, Matilde Moncada Ramos Pinto Die, Mary Fong Lau Charged in Deadly Bus Stop Crash on Ulloa Street at Lenox Way

 
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 19, 2024) — Diego Cardoso de Oliveira died when a driver struck him and his family at a bus stop on Ulloa Street at Lenox Way.
 
According to reports, the deadly accident happened around 12:15 p.m. Sunday. For unclear reasons, 78-year-old Mary Fong Lau was driving at an unsafe speed. Subsequently, her eastbound white Mercedes SUV crashed into a bus stop near Muni’s West Portal station. As a result, four victims, all family members, were struck by her vehicle.
 
Shortly after, paramedics arrived and found two people with fatal injuries: 40-year-old Diego Cardoso de Oliveira and his 1-year-old son Joaquin Ramos Pinto de Oliveira, who died at the scene. A 2-month-old survived the crash with life-threatening injuries. However, the boys’ mother — 38-year-old Matilde Moncada Ramos Pinto — died later at a hospital.
 
Now, Lau faces three counts of manslaughter, reckless driving with bodily injury, driving the wrong way on a divided highway and unsafe speed. If anyone has more information to add to this investigation, please call San Francisco police.
