David Placencia Hits, Kills Woman on Carpenter Road near Maze Boulevard

 
MODESTO, CA (February 4, 2021) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian accident on Carpenter Road, Friday January 15.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Maze Boulevard, at about 10:47 p.m. A Toyota Camry, driven by 63-year-old David Placencia, was southbound at approximately 45 mph.
 
Placencia then noticed a pedestrian standing in the middle of the lane. He tried to avoid hitting the woman, but the vehicle could not stop in time.
 
Emergency crews later pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the victim’s name, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, Placencia remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
CHP ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal accident. Investigators ask witnesses to call the CHP Modesto Area office at (209) 545-7440 as soon as possible.
