David Lopez Detained, Duane Adent Hurt, Chris Beard Involved in DUI Wrong-Way Accident on Highway 101 near TV Tower Road

 
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, CA (March 28, 2022) — David Lopez faces charges after a DUI wrong-way car crash on Highway 101 near TV Tower Road on Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wrong-way accident occurred just after 5:00 a.m. For possible DUI-related reasons, 24-year-old Lopez began driving his 2016 Dodge Challenger northbound in the southbound lanes. Subsequently, his Dodge collided with a southbound 2016 Toyota 4Runner, whose driver — 37-year-old Duane Adent — tried to veer out of the way.
 
Due to the force of the collision, Adent’s 4Runner spun out and overturned several times while debris from the impact struck a nearby 2016 Honda Civic, driven by 51-year-old Chris Beard, who evaded injury.
 
Shortly after, paramedics reached the scene and brought Adent to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for moderate injuries.
 
Meanwhile, officers arrested Lopez on DUI, hit and run and other charges.
