Daniel VelezValerio Detained, Patrick Marasciullo Hurt in Deadly DUI Car Crash on Cathedral Oaks Drive near Kellogg Avenue

 
GOLETA, CA (April 24, 2023) — Daniel VelezValerio faces charges in a fatal DUI car accident on Cathedral Oaks Drive near Kellogg Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal single-vehicle crash happened around 11:00 p.m. Thursday. For possible DUI reasons, 18-year-old Daniel VelezValerio, of Santa Barbara, crashed a Ford pickup truck into a tree. As a result, the car caught on fire on the right shoulder of Cathedral Oaks Drive.
 
VelezValerio, as well as his 22-year-old passenger Patrick J. Marasciullo of Isla Vista, suffered major injuries and were taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for care. A second passenger, described as a 22-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries. Officials have yet to release his name.
 
Following an investigation, CHP Traffic investigators arrested VelezValerio on suspicion of DUI.
