Cleotide Delgado Dies in 3-Car Crash on Highway 20 near Potter Valley Road

POTTER VALLEY, CA (March 30, 2022)Cleotide Rodriguez Delgado died in a three-car accident on Highway 20 near Potter Valley Road on Monday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the three-vehicle accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Due to possible wet road conditions, a 60-year-old Ukiah man operating a blue 2003 Mini Cooper eastbound drove through standing water and lost traction.

Subsequently, the Mini Cooper spun into the westbound lane and hit a 2018 Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 66-year-old Oregon man. As a result, the Tacoma lost control and spun out. At the same time, the Cooper continued out of control in the westbound lane, colliding with a 2019 Ford Explorer driven by a 49-year-old Lake County man.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the Mini Cooper suffered major injuries and his 49-year-old passenger from Ukiah — later identified as Delgado —  died at the scene.

Soon after, paramedics responded and found the Toyota Tacoma driver unharmed and the Ford Explorer driver with moderate injuries.

At this time, investigators have not confirmed other factors that played a role in the accident. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm more details.

Our caring thoughts go out to the bereaved family and friends of Cleotide Rodriguez Delgado.
