Man Killed in La Jolla Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway

 
LA JOLLA, CA (March 30, 2022) — A man died in a pedestrian crash on the 5 Freeway near Nobel Drive on Monday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian crash happened around 11:09 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 23-year-old man was walking on the southbound freeway near traffic. Subsequently, an oncoming Toyota sedan struck him for reasons that demand further examination.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, the victim suffered major injuries and died at the scene soon after. Following the accident, authorities redirected traffic in the area until 4:00 a.m. when normal traffic resumed.
 
At this time, officers have not confirmed if DUI played a factor. However, we will update this report once we receive additional information.
