Christopher Smith Dies in Construction Accident on University Avenue near Webster Street

 
PALO ALTO, CA (September 1, 2022) — Christopher Smith died in a construction accident on University Avenue near Webster Street on August 24.
 
According to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office, 43-year-old Christopher Paul Smith fell down a shaft at a Palo Alto construction site around 12:34 a.m. It’s unclear what led to the accident.
 
However, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the circumstances.
 
After the accident occurred, Palo Alto Fire Department officials responded and brought the Antioch man to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
 
Smith, who works for the Oregon-based contractor F.D. Thomas Inc., had fallen off a scaffold under unclear circumstances. If anyone has more information on this accident, please call the Palo Alto Police Department at 650-329-2413.
