Christiellen Almeida Killed, Four Others Hurt in Car Accident on Indian Trail

 
TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA (January 21, 2022) — 47-year-old Christiellen Almeida died in a car crash on Thursday, January 20.
 
According to the CHP, the crash occurred on Indian Trail and Morongo Road at around 6:10 a.m.
 
Reports said 49-year-old Joel Almeida, of Gaithersburg, drove a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder southbound on Morongo Road. He was approaching the intersection with Indian Trail. Other passengers in the vehicle were Christiellen, a 12-year-old girl, and a 6-year-old boy.
 
At the same time, a 32-year-old Anthony Reinke, of Yucca Valley, drove a black 2007 Chevrolet Silverado towards Morongo Road.
 
CHP said that for undetermined reasons, the Nissan continued into the intersection. The front of the Chevrolet hit the passenger side of the Nissan.
 
Paramedics rushed Christiellen to Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree with critical injuries. They pronounced her dead later.
 
Medics also rushed the boy to Loma Linda Medical Center with major injuries. They also brought the girl to Desert Regional with moderate injuries. Joel was brought to Hi-Desert with moderate injuries.
 
Medics rushed Reinke to the MCAGCC base hospital with moderate injuries.
 
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
