CHP Officer Struck, Injured by Vehicle on Highway 17 in Los Gatos

 
LOS GATOS, CA (November 9, 2022) – A CHP officer and a driver was hospitalized following an accident on Highway 17, Tuesday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on November 8, at about 12:30 p.m. A northbound SUV reportedly lost control and spun out onto the right shoulder. Then, the vehicle hit the CHP officer and the patrol car near the Redwood Estates exit.
 
As per reports, the officer was outside the patrol car when the accident happened.
 
Emergency crews transported the CHP officer and the driver of the SUV to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Responders temporarily closed northbound Highway 17 to make way for clearing operations.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
