HESPERIA, CA (October 21, 2023) – A child was hospitalized in a pedestrian accident on Mesquite Street in Hesperia Wednesday morning on October 18.
 
According to the CHP, the child was struck by a vehicle in the 13800 block of Mesquite Street, just outside of Mesquite Trails Elementary around 7:15 a.m.
 
The impact sent the child off the roadway and along the dirt shoulder.
 
San Bernardino County Fire crews responded and treated the child at the scene. A ground ambulance then took the child a local hospital for further treatment.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was unharmed.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. Further investigation is underway.
