Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield Sends Child to Hospital

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 23, 2024) – A child was hospitalized in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield Friday afternoon on May 19.
 
The crash happened near the Buck Owens Boulevard off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a bright green bus collided with a red Ford Explorer along the northbound lanes of the highway.
 
As a result, at least one child was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
One of the vehicles reportedly fled the scene after the crash.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol was a factor. Further investigation is underway.
