Cherise Babb Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Kelly Road [Escalon, CA]

55-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Kelly Road near Steinegul Road

 
ESCALON, CA (April 23, 2023) – Cherise Babb was killed in a pedestrian accident in Escalon Friday morning on April 14.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:00 a.m. on Kelly Road, just west of Steinegul Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 35-year-old Escalon woman was driving a 2018 Nissan truck eastbound on Kelly at approximately 45 mph. She was approaching Babb, who was walking eastbound on Kelly in the far right-hand portion of the eastbound lane. The right front of the Nissan struck Babb.
 
Babb suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was 55 years old from Escalon, according to the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
 
The CHP said drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a cause of the crash. They asked anyone with further information to contact them at 209-938-4800.
