Bicyclist Suffers Critical Injuries after Struck by Hit-and-Run SUV on Bushard Street in Fountain Valley
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (July 12, 2023) – Caysen Robinson was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Fountain Valley Tuesday evening on July 4.
The crash happened around 10:25 p.m. at Bushard Street and Columbus Court. According to the Fountain Valley Police Department, the 20-year-old victim from Huntington Beach was riding northbound on Bushard Street in a bicycle lane when an SUV traveling in the same direction struck him.
The driver failed to stop, leaving parts of the vehicle behind.
Robinson suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. He was initially listed in critical condition but was already stable on Friday.
His family said that he underwent life-saving surgery on his heart.
Doctors also repaired Robinson’s broken leg, with more procedures planned over the next few days.
Traffic investigators collected evidence left behind and determined that the involved SUV was possibly a 2014-2019 Toyota Highlander.
Anyone with information regarding the collision was urged to call the Fountain Valley Police Department’s Traffic Bureau at 714-593-4481.
