Ventura County Supervisor Dies after Struck by Pickup Truck in Oxnard

 
OXNARD, CA (August 14, 2022) – Carmen Ramirez was killed in a pedestrian accident in Oxnard on Friday night, August 12.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of West 7th Street and South A Street. According to the Oxnard Police Department, Ramirez was walking in a crosswalk when a 2020 GMC Sierra pickup truck struck her.
 
Paramedics rushed Ramirez to an emergency room, but she did not survive.
 
The 38-year-old driver of the pickup truck remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
73-year-old Ramirez grew up in the San Gabriel Valley with six siblings and worked in Ventura County since 1978, according to her 2020 campaign website. The county’s website states she served on the Oxnard City Council for 10 years.
