UPDATE: Carla Luxhilario Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 74 [Menifee, CA]

Chris Kornack Involved in Deadly Pedestrian Accident in Menifee, Carla Luxhilario Identified

 
MENIFEE, CA (January 14, 2022) — A woman was struck and killed when she attempted to cross Highway 74 near Trumble Road in Menifee on Tuesday night.
 
According to the Menifee Police Department, 20-year-old Carla Luxhilario was hit at 9:13 p.m. on the westbound side of the highway, just west of Trumble Road, the coroner reported. At this time, Luxhilario’s city of residence is unknown.
 
The sedan driver, identified as Chris Kornacki of New York, approached the intersection at an unknown speed. At the same time, Kornacki spotted Luxhilario in his path and attempted to swerve, but was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian.
 
Kornacki, who did not sustain any injuries, immediately stopped and called 911.
 
Responding Menifee patrol units confirmed Luxhilario dead at the scene.
 
According to police, an investigation into the fatality showed the victim crossed the highway in an area posted as “No Pedestrian Crossing” with no marked crosswalk.
 
Police questioned and released Kornacki. However, officials ask anyone with information to contact the investigative team at 951-723-1565.
