Cameron Bethel Injured, Amy Merino-Rios Detained in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Highland Avenue and Floral Avenue

 
SELMA, CA (June 22, 2023) Cameron Bethel suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highland Avenue and Floral Avenue.
 
According to reports, the hit-and-run happened around 11:15 p.m. Saturday. Under unclear circumstances, a driver, identified as 20-year-old Amy Merino-Rios, struck 19-year-old Cameron Thomas Bethel who was walking home from work. Bethel was crossing the roadway when the accident occurred.
 
Merino-Rios, however, did not stay at the scene but fled before police found her in a nearby parking lot. After determining that she played a part in the accident, police arrested her for felony hit-and-run, booking her into jail.
 
Selma Police ruled out alcohol and drugs as possible factors in the accident. As for Bethel, he remains hospitalized with a broken leg and back.
