UPDATE: Briana Jones Killed in Car Accident on Highway 101 at Fair Oaks Avenue [Sunnyvale, CA]

Briana Jones Identified in Fatal Sunnyvale Accident

 
SUNNYVALE, CA (September 2, 2021) – At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 101 in Sunnyvale early Sunday morning.
 
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 19-year-old San Jose resident Briana Jones.
 
The accident happened around 3:10 a.m. on August 29, at the junction of Fair Oaks Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, four vehicles collided along the southbound lanes of the highway. Some of them burst into flames.
 
Jones was driving a 1998 Honda Civic that crashed into the center median and got a flat rear tire. The vehicle was then struck by a 2020 Honda Civic and 2018 Subaru WRX, and Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.
 
The drivers of the other two vehicles were taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center with complaints of pain, and investigators found no signs of impairment related to the crash.
 
First responders pronounced Jones dead at the scene.
 
After the crash, officers closed all southbound lanes of the highway for an unknown duration while they worked on the scene.
 
At this time, it is unclear if speed, drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. An thorough investigation is underway.
