53-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Amtrak Train in Santa Ana

 
SANTA ANA, CA (December 14, 2021)Brian Crosby was hit and killed by a train in Santa Ana on Saturday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened around 12:26 p.m. on December 12 near the intersection of 17th Street and Lincoln Avenue. According to Santa Ana police, Crosby was walking across a set of tracks when an Amtrak train heading south slammed into him.
 
Crosby died at the scene. He was 53 years old, according to the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
 
A railroad crossing barrier and sign with flashing red lights is present at the intersection.
 
At this time, police are still working to determine why the victim was on the tracks and how the crash happened.
 
Officials shut down 17th Street between Santiago Street and Grand Avenue as they investigated the crash site. Motorists were advised to take alternate routes and avoid the area.
