Border Patrol Agent Daniel Salazar Dies in Car Crash off Highway 94 near Highway 188

 
POTRERO, CA (May 19, 2022) Daniel Salazar, a border patrol agent, died in a car accident off Highway 94 near Highway 188.
 
According to the County Medical Examiner’s Office, a member of the federal agency found 40-year-old Salazar deceased next to his damaged vehicle around 6:00 a.m. on Friday.
 
Under unclear circumstances, Salazar became involved in a crash that forced his vehicle down an embankment in the unincorporated area of Campo, not far from the US-Mexico border. Soon after, First Responders arrived at the scene and found him unresponsive.
 
According to investigators, the crash appeared to have happened while Salazar was on shift.
 
At this time, the details of the crash were not available. However, the California Highway Patrol and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Professional Responsibility plan to look into his case further.
