Teen Riding Bicycle Sustains Injuries after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on King Street near Delhi

 
DELHI, CA (July 6, 2022) – A bicyclist sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash at King Street and Mediterranean Avenue in Merced County on Monday morning, July 4.
 
The crash happened around 10:55 a.m. near Delhi area. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 13-year-old victim was riding his bicycle in a north direction across King Street. The suspect vehicle was traveling west on Mediterranean Avenue when the driver’s side of their vehicle struck the bicyclist.
 
After the crash, the suspect fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
Responding emergency personnel found the victim suffering from minor injuries. They took them to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for proper treatment.
 
Officers believe the suspect vehicle is a 2014 to 2019 silver Hyundai Sonata, possibly with driver side damage.
 
This crash remains under investigation. The CHP urged witnesses to contact Officer M. Flores at 209-356-6600 or after hours at 209-356-2900.
