Lodi Public Works Employee Dies after Struck by Car at Central Avenue and Watson Street
LODI, CA (August 7, 2023) – Ben Gloff was hit and killed by a car in Lodi Thursday morning on August 3.
The fatal crash happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Central Avenue and Watson Street. According to the Lodi Police Department, Gloff was on duty and working when he was struck.
First responders rushed him to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Gloff was 37 years old and a city of Lodi Public Works employee. He leaves behind a wife and a three-year-old son Eli.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
According to a GoFundMe page raising money for the Gloff family, Eli was diagnosed with cancer a year and a half ago and is still battling the disease.
