Woman Barefoot Hit by Cars in Pedestrian Accident on 405 Freeway in Costa Mesa

 
COSTA MESA, CA (March 4, 2024)— A barefooted woman was hit and killed in a pedestrian accident on the 405 Freeway near Fairview Road.
 
According to authorities, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 8:07 p.m. Saturday. For an unknown reason, a woman who appeared to be 50 years old wearing tan clothing without shoes was yelling and hitting passing vehicles. Subsequently, she began crawling underneath cars until a driver struck her in the middle lane.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and confirmed her dead at the scene.
 
Due to the investigation, California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert at 8:45 p.m. to shut down all southbound lanes.
