Coroner Identifies Armando Cruz Killed in Big Rig Crash on Foggy Highway 145 in Kerman

 
KERMAN, CA (December 7, 2021) – Armando Flores Cruz was killed in a big rig accident on Highway 145 in Kerman on Friday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on December 3 just south of Jensen Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 53-year-old victim was driving a minivan southbound on the highway. At the same time, the big rig pulling a trailer pulled out of a private driveway to the northbound highway into the path of the minivan.
 
Cruz did not see the big rig in time to avoid the collision. The minivan crashed into the side of the truck and became lodged under the trailer. Cruz died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, three passengers suffered moderate to severe injuries. Paramedics took them to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment.
 
Authorities said visibility in the area at the time of the crash was between 50 to 100 feet. They believe the driver of the minivan was traveling at a high rate of speed.
 
The crash is still under investigation.
