Fatal Accident on Highway 99 near Shafter Involves Pickup Truck and Semi

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 7, 2021) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 99 near Shafter on Friday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:30 p.m. on December 3, along the southbound lanes of the highway, just south of Lerdo Highway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Nissan pickup truck crashed into a parked semi truck on the side of the road.
 
When officers arrived, they located both vehicles on the right shoulder. The Nissan had major front-end damage from the crash.
 
Paramedics rendered aid, but at least one person died at the scene.
 
The name, age and hometown of the victim were not immediately available.
 
It is unclear at this time if drugs or alcohol was a factor. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
