18-Year-Old Zipcar Passenger Dies in Double Hit-and-Run Crash in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (November 20, 2023) – Arif Mohammed was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Oakland late Sunday evening on November 19.
 
The fatal crash happened a little before 11:00 p.m. on Highway 13, just south of Lincoln Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Zipcar and another vehicle collided for unknown reasons.
 
After the initial crash, the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene.
 
Mohammed was one of the Zipcar passengers. He exited the car when a passing a vehicle struck him. He died at the scene. He was 18 years old from New York City, according to the Alameda County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver of the passing vehicle also fled the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Zipcar was unharmed.
 
At this time, the crash is still under investigation. CHP officials are still searching for the two hit-and-run suspects.
