26-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Los Angeles

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 9, 2024) – April Ritz was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Los Angeles early Thursday morning on January 4.
 
The fatal crash happened around 12:05 a.m. on Sepulveda Boulevard, just south of Century Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Ritz was outside of a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a gray 2023 Toyota Highlander that was traveling southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard.
 
Ritz suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was 26 years old, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
 
The driver of the SUV fled the scene after the crash. Detectives later identified him as 48-year-old Los Angeles resident Eduardo Alejandro Leiva. They arrested him and booked him on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
